Hitachi Launches HiRDB Connector in Japan for Delphix to Streamline Application Development

New integration accelerates development with secure production data utilization.

Tokyo, Japan, August 1, 2024 — Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, Hitachi), today announced the release of the HiRDB Connector for Delphix. Delphix by Perforce is recognized as a premier provider of multicloud data automation and compliance solutions. This connector integrates Hitachi's non-stop database, HiRDB, with the Delphix Test Data Management Platform and enables developers to quickly and securely generate test data from sensitive production data.

With the increasing need for high-quality applications released in shorter timeframes, utilizing test data equivalent to production data is essential. However, processing production data to ensure confidentiality can be time-consuming and labor-intensive. The HiRDB Connector for Delphix automates this process using Delphix's advanced masking functions, while also incorporating database virtualization technology to minimize storage consumption.

Enhancing Development Efficiency and Reducing Costs

The HiRDB Connector for Delphix offers significant benefits for developers, including the ability to freely duplicate, initialize, and rewind test data. This reduces the storage capacity and number of licenses required for development environments, thereby lowering overall costs.

“Companies today must shorten application development cycles to meet changing market demands and customer needs,” said Takayuki Yokoyama, Senior Director of Middleware Engineering Dept., Hitachi. “Our new connector for Delphix not only ensures secure utilization of production data but also reduces costs and accelerates development processes.”

Future Developments and Industry Impact

Looking ahead, Hitachi plans to expand its data masking support services, particularly for the financial industry. These services will ensure high-quality test data generation from production data while maintaining confidentiality. Additionally, Hitachi will leverage its extensive experience in system development and migration to provide platforms that facilitate the use of cloud-native technologies, thereby supporting the modernization of applications and enhancing corporate competitiveness.

About HiRDB

HiRDB supports social infrastructure as a key component of data management for mission-critical systems in the financial, public, transportation, and telecommunications sectors. It is a purely domestic relational database that has evolved on open systems, inheriting the highly reliable technology and know-how cultivated on mainframes. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the latest version, HiRDB 10, has enhanced migration to the cloud. HiRDB also promotes integration with other companies' products to reduce development and maintenance costs and promote data utilization.
